Hey guys do you remember when Princes Lea saved Han Solo from the carbon freeze? That was a Breen helmet. Or maybe I should say The Breen's helmet design was a ripoff from Starwars. I hate saying that because I love Startrek so much but if you take a look for yourselves you'll see and if your anything like me it'll piss you off royaly.

The helmet design is indeed similar. Oh well. There are those who claim that a large part of DS9's storyline was ripped off from Babylon 5. (I'm not one of those people, although I have to admit there are striking similarities.)

Any simularities betweem Bab 5 & DS9 I beleave to be a coincidence. Only because the two are so closly watched by the fans. However, I beleave the Breen helmet issue to be a blatant ripoff!!! Why? If berman & Bragga havn't seen return of the Jedi it's further testament as to why they need to go!!! Also Bab 5 runs daily and fans have too much access to the show so they'd be fools to so blatently ripoff from it. However, Babalon 5 has better writers.

To be fair, the Breen were orginally supposed to be a one-time race. In all likelyhood, they needed an exotic helmet, and someone found the one from ROTJ. It was only later that they made the Breen recurring.
To use a B5 example again, several times they used spacesuits on that show which were dug up out of old prop bins----I think one of them was directly out of 2001.

Someone found? Copyright infringement can lead to a multimillion dollar settlement and people are just finding helmets from ROTJ?
Ok I'll buy that.

^Wouldn't be an infringement, since I think ILM was sitll doing Trek at the time. They probably owned the prop.

I'm quite Glad the Breen were made recurring in Season 7, Their Sinister Alliance with the Dominion was just Unexpected and made a Pleasant Surprise

The Prop may belong to ILM but creative rights are possessed by Lucas Films. WUZZZUP PAH!!! I dig the Breen I really do!! They showed themselves to be a major power in DS9. My boy George the all knowing Zen guru of trivia brought this to my attention. Sometimes I get so bloody pissed off gaaaahhhh!!!!!!@#$ %^%&^&*( I can't control my rage!)Please excuse me if I rant and rave every now and then.
I think I need psychoanalytical help.
It's not easy living in a stupid box. Not having arms and leggs. Having a light beep once for yes and twice for no. Not being able to get smooth on the ladies. Gahhh!! My nose iches!!!

The Breen Confederacy is just another objectively imperialistic race like the Romulan Star Empire. Nothing the federation cant handle, although they do occupy a large area of space (almost 5 times the size of cardassian territory!) on the Gamma quadrant side of the Cardassian Union.
Some information regarding their home world:
World class: P*
Official name: Breen Confederacy
Political system: Non-aligned
Capital: Unknown
Dominant species: Breen (humanoid*)
Population: Unknown
Warp capable: Unknown
Historical note: Breen aligned itself with Dominion forces and attacked Earth during the Dominion War (2375)
Distance from Earth: roughly 120 light-years

^Read that again. Notice the part that says "Breen aligned itself with Dominion forces and attacked Earth during the Dominion War (2375)".
That bit of information could only have come from DS9. So even if you haven't picked up on that from the rest of the thread, there it is.

I think it was better that what they said wasn't translated, it left that mysterious vibe about them......
