Yeah and even Yoda refers to him as Master Obi-Wan in Ep. II. Although in the later films (4,5,6) he remains a Knight(or is just refered to that way)

Here it is: Yes, Qui-Gon trained Obi-Wan, but Yoda did too. Yoda trains young students at the temple, and he trained Obi-Wan there, along with his rival, Bruck, who Obi-Wan accidently killed. Yoda also taught Bant Eeran, Obi's friend, as well as many other students in the temple. Only when Obi was 13 did he become Qui's padawan.
Other people in the temple, such as Mace Windu, and Tahl, taught young jedi as well. (not so much Tahl, but she helped students, till' she became Bant's master and died in Qui-Gon's arms right after he pledged his love to her.)
In case you're wondering, I got my info from the Jedi Apprentice series which totally ROCKS. (Not to mention I am Jedi Master B'Ellanna Torrez) May the force be with you.
