With the character itself, I found it odd that he was willing to fly halfway across galaxy with a group of stranded strangers determined to get 70,000 LY away from any known territory.

Am I the only one who found it odd that there are people of his race scattered across 40-50,000 LY in so small a time period from their native planet's destruction?

It was normally going to take 70 years for Voyager to cover that distance, and here are with a Talaxian colony who made it this far in only 7, and Voyager had some serious help cropping that time down...They were only 10 years away before the last episode.

Since Talaxians did not have transwarp it is safe to assume they hit some wormholes and sub space corridors that Voyager did not. And Voyager was still at least 30,000 lights years from home at Endgame and most likely in the Beta quadrant.

It made perfect sense for Neelix to stay with the colony. Why on earth (unintentional spun) would he want to continue the journey when;

1. he had the opportunity to come to the rescue of his people
2. settle home with them
3. turn his back to love
4. have a chance to have a family life

We are to used to thinking of him as part of the Voyager crew when he was not in the strict sense of the term.

I loved Neelix too, and I think it was good that he left when he did. That way we had our attention on him and only on him for a while. It also heralded the end, like "Guys, we really mean it, our show is going to end soon!". I saw it like in soccer, when they substitute a good player in the last three minutes, that way the whole audience can applaud him when he goes out. He practically stayed until the end anyway, and that was good too. Plus I really liked the touch of Tuvok dancing a few steps for him, this moment could also be nominated for "Most moving scenes" of the series.

I say good riddance to Nelix, I have always hated him, and will continue to do so
