me too! I hope she writes another one. I like the first two the best, and the last two ok. They were good, but I guess I am expecting her to put them all on the same ship again, and I need to realize that probably won't happen, but that Chakotay and her will still get together. but oh well. At least I'm not alone in how I feel about the books.

when you look into that episode i feel it is mainly to do with survival adaptability as well as subjection chakotay was a gentleman thru it all he never took advantage and he took initiative and in endgame janeway mentions that chakotay died because the loss of 7 of 9 was unbearable also fraternising is not allowed especially as janeway is now admiral janeway as star trek nemesis suggests so it would be inappropriate for her to pursue chakotay in tha t regard good topic kathryn16

i thought we didnt need words to understand each other (admiral janeway talking to the borg queen after being assimilated in endgame)

He didn't die because it was unbearable. She only said "It was hard these years without her." Because sometime within 3 years of Admiral Janeway's appearance on Voyager, Chakotay and Seven get married, and then she dies. He made it all the way back to Earth with Voyager and the crew. I'm sure he died of natural causes, it was just hard living without Seven.

Your right and I do think it would be kind of inappropiate but it is for a fact that I strongly beleive in J/C's relationship should be embraced. Holding in feelings(I know she didn't 'love' him but she still had a deep feeling.) like Kathryn did those seven years wasn't wrong but I think it was a little too harsh for her to do so. Now that their home Janeway really doesn't have anything else to do but..move on. And if i do remember clearly the Federation doesn't object to any relationship but only if it doesn't effect your duties.

Chakotay....does not....love Janeway and vice versa.

*sigh* From the episode Shattered....

Janeway: "Maybe just a little. For two people who started off as enemies, it seems we get to know each other pretty well. So I've been wondering - just how close do we get?"
Chakotay: "Let's just say, there are some barriers we never cross."

- If nothing were between them why would he choose to answer that question the way he did?

Birdy wrote:
I agree with you too, Founder. I believe that they'll never cross that barrier, and I'm glad, cuz a captain can't do that. Though in Resolutions it was a tough one; what did the writers wanted to accomplish with that episode? Prove that they aren't lovers? I'm still confused. But I'm glad Voyager found a cure and got back so soon,

- It was Jeri Taylor who wrote that episode...I would bet that she's pretty much the one who started J/C. And some other huge J/C episodes she wrote were Coda & Hunters. And you can't forget that she was a co-creater and excutive producer of the show.

I remember hearing her say (I think it was in one of Voyager season dvd's) about putting to characters together isolated and seeing what would happen. But she was talking about Day of Honor in which Paris & Torres are in a very similar situation and their relationship is taken further than Janeway and Chakotay's ever was.

I never did understand what was so important about that monkey? What was the point of it. Also on a side note I found the episode to be cheesy in some points.

The whole reason for the episode of "Resolutions" was because Jeri Taylor and the other writers of the show wanted to test out Mulgrew and Beltran's chemistry together and it worked really well. Plus if you're going to have 2 attractive people in authority on one ship that's 70,000 light years away, then they're going to try something for ratings. And Chakotay did have feelings for her during that episode.

Chakotay told that whole "Angry Warrior" story which pretty much tells me that was his way of saying that he cared about Janeway and loved her. And I think she was falling in love with him. There was one episode during the first or second season, I can't remember, where the crew was having illusions. And Janeway had this illusion of Mark and he said to her that "She didn't feel the same anymore. That she had feelings for another." And I don't think "Mark" meant Tuvok. It's just they both knew it would be hard for them to have a relationship because she was the captain, and she was technically still holding onto Mark until she heard about him marrying another woman later in the show.

So it was already known that Chakotay loved Janeway, proven after Resolutions, although she never actually made any more hints besides people already making up what they thought after that. I think the writers were going to do something with the characters up until Jeri Taylor left the show, and then Kate Mulgrew said that she didn't want Janeway to have a romantic relationship with Chakotay or anyone else on the ship. Other aliens fine, but no crew members. Although, I know that Kate hated the whole Janeway loving Michael Sullivan hologram bit. The 2 part episode "Year of Hell" was a very good episode to show the end of J/C. Chakotay had bought Janeway a very beautiful pocket watch for her birthday but she didn't want to accept it because it would be inappropriate and you could tell that he was really upset by that. Even though she still wore it later in the episode when she was the only one on the ship, in my mind, I think that's when the writers had Chakotay kind of give up on Janeway as a love interest. Plus the writers decided against it since both actors Robert Beltran and Kate Mulgrew both agreed that it would be best for their characters not to be romantically involved. Especially Kate Mulgrew because she said that she didn't think a Captain like Janeway should do that. Although, that's easy for anyone to say unless they get into a similar situation. I don't know what I would do if that happened to me, if I was so far away from home like that for so many years. Anyway, just look it up on any search engine for interviews with both actors, mainly Mulgrew because she's the most popular and is asked that question about their relationship the most, and you'll find it. That's how I read about all of that.

And I don't care if books aren't canon, in the Spirit Walk book, I can't remember which one, whether it was parts 1 or 2, Chakotay makes this comment about having loved 3 women on Voyager: Seska, Janeway, and Seven. He was comparing his luck in love and how each woman didn't work out. Seska because she was a Cardassian spy didn't really love him, Janeway because of the fact that they were both on Voyager, and then later Seven because they were now not on Voyager, which is sad that she dumped him too because she wanted to see what life was like on Earth first. But that's understandable. She had more chemistry with Harry Kim and the Doctor anyway. Plus half the writers of Star Trek books watch Star Trek, so they take a lot of things that happened in all the series to make books about. So yeah, if there aren't any good Star Trek movies made, then I read the books because that's better than nothing right now. So I read DS9 and Voyager books. And a couple of TNG.

First of all I would just like to say that I whole heartedly agree with your assement of J/C. And you said it very well I might add.

- The episode is called "Persistance of Vision" which I do believe Taylor also wrote that episode. I haven't seen it yet and didn't know that Mark had mentioned to Janeway of her having feelings for someone else. I did know that she was having illusions of him though.

Thanks for saying so! Yeah, I just wanted to add that about J/C, since some people said that there were absolutely no romantic feelings between Janeway and Chakotay and I was thinking, that's not right. But anyway, I thought "Persistance of Vision" was an interesting episode. You should try to watch it sometime when you get a chance.
