I'm not a teenager. I'm 20 . I'm so proud.
Just wondering, what class are you from?(i don't even know if that is the right question ) |
I don't know. I left school two years early because I found myself a job (at age 14). I left in the 80s.

one question, how many years do you usually go to school in america? i always thought 12 years, but now where you said with the age og 16.....how many years do you have to stay at school? in germany 9 or 10 years, it has something to do with if you repeated a class, but you can do 13 years, like i do (now i am in class 11)

^ It depends. If you start in preschool, you could be in for a lot longer.
Usually public education here is defined as K-12 (Kindergarten, first, second, ect)
Then there is college (2-year program or 4-year program) which is up to the families to pay, but there is financial aid provided by the government, individual companies, and individual schools.
Then there is graduate school...The list goes on
But yeah, you can start as early as 4 or 5 and get out as late as...ever

Only if you go to preschool. Public school starts at about 5 or 6 (I think), and that's kindergarten.

It's compulsary to start school here in the September after you turn 5. Most children go to Reception at age 4, and quite a lot go to Nursery at age 3. Compulsay schooling ends at 16, you can spend either another two years at school, go to college, or leave altogether at that age. Uni is normally started from 18+

hm, kindergarten(lol, it's a german word) you can start here with 3 years, but only if you want, only parents who aren't home because they work send their kids to kindergarten
and then you start the 1st class with 6 or seven, i started with 6 one month after i became 6, and go 4 years to "grundschule", then after those 4 years the kids are seperated to 4 different schools, depending on your grades. if you weren't so good in grundschule, you go to Hauptschule. if you were average, you go to Realschule, and if you got really good grades in grundschule, you go to Gymnasium. the last school, Gesamtschule, is for everyone, it doesn't matter what grades you got in grundschule.
you go to hauptschule and realschule until class 10, then you can stop going to school, or you can change school to gymnasium or gesamtschule. (i know 20 students that changed to our school now). on gesamtshcule most people stop after class 10, but you can also make abi there, and go to school until class 13. on gymnasium you can do 13 years of school of course, and almost nobody leaves after class 10. thats where i am now, class 11 on BGL (bergstadt gymnasium Ldenscheid). you can only go to uni when you got Abi, which you can do on Gesamtschule or Gymnasium, but on Gymnasium is better, because it's harder to get it
everything understandable?

Complicated stuff...
In Belgium it's kindergarten, which can start at about the age of 3.
"Lower school", from the age of 6 until 12.
"Middel school", from 12 until 18.
This is compulsary so there's no getting away with leaving school early.
Then you can choose, high school which is another 3 years or university which is mostly 4 extra years (5 for engineers, 7 for lawyers and doctors).
Then post grads and other weird stuff...
Anyway, I'm the class of '95.
