Question: Why no Star Trek made for TV movies on UPN?

What? Can you restate that question?
And I would be fine with a TV movie.

Petition Writing (How to write a petition)

Before writing your petition...

Writing a petition is not as difficult as you might suspect. However, you need to take into account a number of issues including the jurisdiction of the recipient, attention to proper research, clear and concise communication, and how you will promote your petition.

Jurisdiction

Every jurisdiction differs in its approach to electronic e-petitions. For example, 10 Downing Street, UK, accepts electronic petitions as long as each petition complies with basic content requirements. In the USA, statutory requirements vary from state to state. In Scotland, e-Petitioner (a parliamentary service) allows you to have your own petition live on the internet. In Queensland, Australia, a Member of Parliament must sponsor the relevant e-petition if the petition is addressed to parliament.

It should be noted, however, that an e-petition has "persuasive" effect in any jurisdiction because a petition acts as a forceful group letter. So at gopetition.com we encourage well researched, concise petitions regardless of jurisdictional issues. Moreover, many petitions do not need to comply with jurisdictional guidelines because many petitions are written to organisations and groups that have no such guidelines.

You should verify which, if any, jurisdiction your cause for petition falls under. You might need to petition on a county, state or national level or even internationally (for example, the UN). In some cases, you may request petition guidelines. Find out how many signatures you need and whether your petition needs approval before being circulated.

Finally, the status of electronic signatures is undergoing major changes and development in many Western jurisdictions. The law of electronic signatures is in its infancy. In these circumstances, we at gopetition.com provide for the collection of a variety data fields, including addresses, to provide as much flexibility as possible for each petition author. In any event, our petitions never lose their persuasive power or status.

Proper research

A petition should begin with a request, followed by well researched reasons for making the request. Each petition should provide a description of relevant circumstances and links to documentation or facts that support that description. Moreover, a petition should contain information that suggests its request is feasible.

Clear and concise communication

Don't clutter your petition with information or requests that have no essential connection to the main message. Read over your petition carefully. Make sure it:

(1) describes the situation,
(2) suggests what is needed, and
(3) explains why it is needed.

Be clear and concise with your message.

There are many examples of excellent and well written petitions at gopetition.com, so we suggest that you read some of the more popular petitions and use these as templates.

Privacy

Concerns about data collection and privacy in regard to e-petitions are important. At gopetition.com we note that the details provided by signatories are not used to send unsolicited e-mail, and are not sold to any 3rd party. We have the strictest privacy policy of any petition hosting site. Petition authors must agree to use e-signatures for legitimate purposes.

Tip: if you create a petition at GoPetition, turn OFF the option that people can react to your petition. Or else people post reactions like "what a stupid petition" and such.

Yeah I agree...though since we already know about Picard being at Wolf 359, etc...what else can be added to the plotline? I think 7of9 was in the Collective too during the battle....anything else???

Yeah i like this idea. Its sounds very interesting. It could be viewed from Sisko's ship the Saratoga, a random admirals ship and a little bit from Picards enterprise. I think this has potential. Yes Anika Hanson (7 of 9) and her parents had already been assimilated by then. This would be great especially if we got to see lots of shots of a New Orleans Class

I suppose it would also be good to see it from Locutis' point of view too. Oh and to see what Rikers potential new crew and ship (USS Melbourne) was like before it was destroyed

If you start a petition then i suggest you use www.petitiononline.com Its very popular, ive used it a few times before

START A PETITION RIGHT AWAY!

I think this would be a great idea if we could rally enough support for it. Make a webpage, have people commune on the topic, etc etc...sign a petition....start a e-mailing list....get people involved. This movie is a possibility in my mind. Though it seems Jendresen already has a story for ST: XI

The wolf 359 one would have to be star trek: XII if it would be made. Star Trek XI would be too far along now to be stopped.

Not just yet, it isn't, according to Jendresen. But I agree it would have to be ST: XII. The one Jendresen is working on is not greenlit yet, but still well on its way to getting to that point. I mean, they're gonna release it fall 2007, so they say! That's not THAT far off from now.

Plus it was announced that Jendresen was writin the film like 5-6 months ago now so he had had quite a while to brush up on his star trek and begin to come up with a stable story line. I mean he could have easily watched every episode of startrek by now

But yeah give the borg a chance to go out in style

I would like to see one last thing about the borg. To go out with a Bang so to speak. With Wolf 359 it was back when the borg were still scary. The last time we saw them was in endgame where the entire borg collective was severely crippled and voyager reaked havok with the borg. So the last we see of the borg was when they werent really seen as capable of anihilating the federation. Now dont get my wrong i think engame is a great episode but still seeing wolf 359 makes the borg look scarier and more powerfull.

Yeah you have a point. It would give the Borg their most victorious limelight....the place in the timeline where the Federation feared them the most....that would be kind of cool to see...

As much as I would like to say yes to this I have to say no. My opinion is that we had the "Best of Both Worlds" and First Contact to deal with the Borg invasion. Wolf 359 would just be to similar.

Nobody would ever go for this because the idea sucks. You have the Saratoga there with Sisko but we have allready seen the most interesting part of that in Emissary. How in gods name could you sustain a movie around WOLF 359?

You couldn't, its stupid. First Contact was about the borg and thats quite enough. The Enterprise wan't even at WOLF 359 and the story and all its devices have been played out.

Petitions are useless anyway since they never listen to them and if someone did they would read the title and throw it away.

And there won't be a Voyager movie either before we start on that...

No. Not a 359 movie...that's just...so played out. There's not a whole lot you could do. I mean, what's going to be the plot..."Okay, we just received the Borg are on their way here, we need reinforcements" *they get reinforcements* "Okay, we have a neat little battle scene, but then the fleet gets wiped out and the Borg continue on..." *enter on cue the old Enterprise-D WITHOUT showing the interior, and then it leaves for Earth.*

Not a very good storyline. 30 mins, tops...lol.

Yeah that is true. Can't entirely disagree with you on that. But oh, the special affects for that would be awesome! Oh the hell with it, just make a damn movie with either DS9 or Voyager or both! Even making another TNG movie would be better than a prequel and none of the same characters.

Ya! No prequels! Those are stupid! Ugh...it makes me sick just thinking about it. Unless it's something LEGITIMATE...like the already discussed Romulan War, or the Eugenics War. Those are LEGITIMATE Star Trek events...none of this "Archer" and other stupid "pre-Kirk" crap that they're coming up with that is NOT LEGITIMATE!

Then you wouldn't want to play klingon academy then, the klingons not only destroy starfleet ships and outposts but make earth a pile of dust in the process.

I could handle a wolf359 movie or a dominion war movie, it isnt much difference than watching the dominion destroy starfleet-klingon-romulan ships on ds9.

And in numerous star trek series and even movies the borg assimulate starfleet officers, nothing new there.

I wouldnt mind there being a wolf359 movie or even a dominion war movie , i would sign a petition if it was avaliable.

Of course we would watch a Wolf 359 movie. It's Star Trek and everybody in this forum is a Trek fan. But you make anything into Star Trek really. How to make it good though. It couldn't just be about battle after battle after battle. It would have to be about something, maybe perspectives of different people in the battle, not all of them Starfleet but those ships and planets and cultures caught in the crossfire.
