Ok I dont HATE ENT but to me it hasnt earned becoming a movie yet. They are completely skipping over DS9/VOY.

Why Paramount wont make a Ds9 movie ?

Well...chances are looking good there wont be another Trek movie.EVER.Why ?

The last one,Nemesis, was no blockbuster at the box office.Sure,Trekkers went to see it,and some other sci fi fans, and some out of casual interest, but thats it.

It was no Lord of the rings,or The matrix.

So lets see.....if you were a Paramount suit, would you approve funding for a Trek movie, wich would do only reasonably well,or some other project, wich would probaby bring in more cash ?

Because lets face it,as much as we love trek, theres a lot of people out there who dont.Theres still a stigma attached to it,ie a lot of people still think, mistakenly.that sci fi is just for "geeks"

Paramount is in it to make money. Not for the love of Trek. They proved that long ago by overmilking the sacred cash cow.Enterprise,im sure is ok in its own way.But....*shrugs* *continues with Paramount love/hate relationship*

That's exactly what I was talking about. Paramount wants cash and doesnt care if Trekkies want to see andother Star Trek movie. And I also think that the actors are starting to get bored by their characters also. Well, not SO much, but slowly...It's like going to work...We all know good things last for only a short period.

Yes,true.

After all,its referred to in many inside books about Trek, that on the Paramount lot Trek is referred to not by name, but merely as "the franchise".

Pressure is high in holywood, money comes first, dreams second.

As for the actors getting bored of their roles, well,im sure some of them are.Another problem many actors fear,is typecasting.Ie,once they`ve been in star trek, directors will only see them in THAT role,ie,being able to play sci fi.So the jobs wont exactly stream in afterwards, even though many of them are great actors.

Think of say,TNG.How many of those actors have you seen in movies,OR tv since ? I can just think of Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes...

Avery Brooks, from most sources, hates talking about Star trek.So obviously he was dissapointed there.Perhaps with something Paramount did ? The direction they took things ? I wont be surprised.

You two make good points. Although I hate how they just want to make a quick buck. People say Lucas is doing that with the PT. No THIS is trying to make a quick buck not what Lucas does. On the subject about the actors. I dont think they are getting bored with their roles. If anyone buys the DVD set of DS9 you'll see the actors back and discussing it. I believe Avery Brooks(amazing actor BTW) does an interview on it as well. So I dont think he really hates star trek or talking about it for that matter. He probably didnt like the way paramount did some stuff but then again so do we. I dont think one movie would kill their careers. No offense to them, they are AMAZING actors and actresses, but like you said neo, they havent been in many roles. Making one movie wont make a difference. Terry Farrel-does Becker, Colm Meany-makes TONS of british/Irish movies, Michael Dorn- Not sure, Avery Brooks- Made a few movies and appearance on tv shows, Alexander El Fiddil-Theater work I think, Nana Visitor-Not sure, Rene Auborjonoius(sp?)-Believe it or not is actually well off, he made many shows and was in many movies before and after DS9.

Yeah, you can read about their careers on startrek.com. Some of them went off pretty well. Well, most, actually. And I think that even if they never make another episode or movie of Star Trek it's important that it lives on at least in our hearts and books of the great writers. . But I still hink there is a chance of making some movies, maby Enterprise will get new fans and they will decide to make a new movie, not necessary Enterprise

Of course,they`re doing ok.Reasonably.

And Avery Brooks did speak well of Trek,on the dvd.And in official interviews. But then again...those where Paramount products. You think he`d be allowed to speak negatively of Trek there ?

Sorry if i seem a bit...negative or angry but...when you read books by people from the inside you realise what Paramount does...

Im just...saying that Paramount consumes them, like it consumes Trek.Wich is why a lot struggle with pressure.Marriages dont last.Substance abuse is rife.(well...thats all over the world of movies and TV,not just at Paramount)

I know,Colm Meany, ive seen him around in a lot of tv stuff. He`s sorta the exception rather than the rule though,if you take statistics on average.Terry Farrel, sure, but that just set me off at Paramount again, because of what they did to HER by the way she was written out of trek (she didnt want to leave that way..a lot of people, and i dont just mean fans didnt want her to leave that way...but Paramount did what it wanted,ie wich was most convenient)

I reccomend for example the book "A vision of the future - Star Trek Voyager" by Stephen Edward Poe,wich is about the creation of Voyager, but Ds9 gets mentioned a lot in there too.

Yes, and it is. It's written so good that you can imagine the whole plots like you were watching them on TV!
