Yeah, but there were a lot who chose death or camps instead of complying.

Or maybe he was just scared? After all, he was only 15, 16ish, sheesh .
He did abadone though, and that was punishable by death on the spot.

I know. I wasn't arguing with your POV.
I'm just saying that there are so many variables to account for that choice in his life.

How so? And do you mean the Papacy in general or this pope specifically?

Still, I'd rather die than know that I'd be participating in the slaughter of millions. But then again, he defected later. Whoopdidoo.

One of my friends believes that the new pope is actually emperor palpatine from star wars, but that's because he's gone a bit mad (17 and never been kissed)

It is a misconception to think you got killed for disobeying orders in the German military back in world war II. You might have lost in rank if you refused to fulfill an order, you could even be transferred if you wished. German "soldiers" who participated in killings etc usually got extra rewards such as a bottle of wine. Besides, there's plenty of people out there who did risk their lives to help others.

A lot of the members of the german public had no idea what happened to the Jews once they were shipped into ghettos or concentration camps.

Yeah I suppose they all just dissapeared into a vast piece of nothingness of the German mind? They needed millions and millions of them for indsutry camps. None of them ever wondered where they all went? Pu-lease,
