PostFri Nov 08, 2002 5:41 pm    9/11 overdose

Okay, I know I am just angry today and I am not being heartless or anything I am just venting...

In this page alone, I have seen 13 Osama and 9/11 topics. Doesn't anyone think that this is a serious overdose?

It really angers me when I see so many people suddenly being depressed and patriotic (and I am talking about Americans) just because for once the bad guys got them instead.

Plus, I am sensing a bit of arrogance in the air from some of the American's posts on the board, stuff like constantly going on about how proud you should be to be an American...Who cares if you're American? Nobody?

I'm English and I don't go around saying how proud I am of my country! Why do you/they?

I know that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were terrible, but just because it happened to America it doesnt mean that it is the worst thing ever to happen.

I know what I have just said might seem heartless but It isn't I promise, this is just venting and is not meant to emotionally cripple some Americans who just can't let go. (There it goes again, soz)

I feel bad for you that you have no pride in your nationality. I am proud of who I am, and where I came from. And yeah, some Americans are arrogant, or come off that way. So? I've seen quite a bit of arrogance from other places, too.

Oh, and please take a few seconds to check the date on which most of the 9/11 related topics were originally made. That may clear up why it was on everyone's mind.

Who cares? I care about my own pride, and I am sure other people care about thiers, why should'nt they share it? (I know that that was poorly worded, but I could not think of a better way. ) Everyone sould be proud of their country no matter what it is, And I see no reason not to share it, showing pride has nothing to do with americans other than we have the tendancy to show it.

I don't know if anyone realizes this, but many of these posts have been dug up from several months ago. There's only been 1 or 2 new threads about this topic, as far as I know.

There is a psychic in a newspaper who says that Hussein will be shot, Bin Laden will be captured and brought to justice and that on the 11th of some other month The Eiffel tower will be toppled, and the Golden Gate Bridge will be destroyed...I hope he is wrong bout the last two

Just because they have different opinions it doesnt make them jack@sses.

I'm neutral on this subject.

I think it's more a matter of patriotism, Bugger Boy. America stands for a lot of things to its citizens, things that we of course are extremely proud of. It's good to actually enjoy where you live--versus the alternative, which is hating where you live. Yes, the 9/11 attacks were horrible, and yes, maybe sometimes it is an overdose. But that doesn't mean we suddenly can't be proud to be American--even if you don't care, it frankly doesn't matter, because pride in one's country is an individual matter, and not something that is dependent upon the opinions of someone else.

gotta love it when people are against things just because its "the cool thing" to do, like when people are anarchist's, and have no clue what it means, they just like the red A in a circle...
