Don't get me wrong, I liked the episode alot but come on. Spock is the first Vulcan in Starfleet. Now we have some emotional "female" [no offence] Vulcan being the first in the fleet. Well, we changed history alright. Forget the Star Trek knowledge we have known for years regarding Spock.

You're right, but I haven't see Broken Bow yet (I live in the United Kingdom).

Starfleet as we know it does not even exist, because there is no Federation yet. And T'Pol's not in Earth's Starfleet, she is more like a Vulcan exchange officer.

Yes but you heard the conversation with her and Archer. And plus if she is to stay on this series, it is likely she will have an official command.

Or she could just stay as an official representative of Vulcan. She doesn't necessarily have to become Starfleet.

Don't you have to graduate from Starfleet Academy to be in Starfleet?

And yes, there is no Starfleet yet.

They don't have to graduate if there is no Starfleet to graduate from!

There is a Starfleet, but no United Federation of Planets. She is a high ranking officer aboard the Enterprise but not a member of Starfleet, therefore she has the authority to take command of the ship even though she doesn't belong to Starfleet. Just like Kira could command DS9 and the Defiant, so can T'Pol command the Enterprise.

I agree that she was too emotional for a Vulcan.

I agree too, well said. The only thing I want to point out is:

"Starfleet" is still an Earth-based organization, so there probably are no nonhuman OFFICIAL members.

For those people that were not able to watch the premiere, a little birdy told me that "broken bow" has been released in vcd-mpg format.

Search for:

enterprise.s01e01.cd1.VCD-FE.mpg

enterprise.s01e01.cd2.VCD-FE.mpg

e01x011.rar - e01x011.r29

e01x012.rar - e01x011.r28

--

I have confirmed that this little birdy did not lie to me.

Did the birdie also tell you which search engine to use? Google and Lycos don't work.

Yes but if you see the end of the episode Archer and her discuss her permanent role on the Enterprise as First/Science officer in the fleet, which see said she might arange with Vulcan.

Right. She can do all of that and still not be officially part of Starfleet. Bajor wasn't even a member of the Federation, but Kira was still there. And it is different cricumstances, I know, but the same logistics still apply.

Everyone who live in the U.K., Australia, etc. where Enterprise is not yet broadcast, you can still watch the episodes by downloading them onto your computer.

The catch is that unless you have a broadband connection (cable, DSL, T1, etc), it will take forever to download.

To find the episodes, you need to download and use a peer-to-peer file sharing program. I recomment Direct Connect (www.neo-modus.com) and Limewire (search on http://www.download.com). Amazingly, new episodes can generally be found the very next day after their broadcast in the U.S. Unfortunately, due to their popularity, you often have to "wait in line" to get a "download slot" from the person you're downloading from.

Hope this helps. These programs are also good for getting episodes from all the other ST series (I've got every Voyager and TNG episode on my comp at home), except for the Original series episodes which are harder to find.
