I am an independent. As yall can see, I usually tend to lean to the conservative side, however, not all the time. I refuse to be set into the category of Republican or Democrat. I think that that encourages a group think philosophy, and that it takes away from ones ability to think for themselves.

Fetus: Rights.
Homosexual: No rights.

I don't understand that. Why does a fetus have more rights in your view?

So homosexuals are not human beings then, in your opinion.

You liberals love to put words in our mouths that are not there. I never said homosexuals was not human. It is simply against God's law and it says so in the bible so look it up. Do I need to give scripture? Yes, God loves them anyway but and I love my friend that is gay but it is a sin.

She NEVER SAID THAT HOMOSEXUALS HAVE NO RIGHTS. They don't have No rights. We do NOT believe that they should have no rights--just not the right to marry, and in some cases, depending on the person, the right to a Civil Union. However, a fetus is a living thing, and so it has some rights. Gays have rights and should have rights, but what gay rights means is the right to marry, etc.

Exactly. And oh no--you stereotyped! Oh no!

I'm a socially libertarian conservative.

As for Gay vs. Abortion: at least the Gays got to choose their own fate.

I don't understand how any of you think that the government has any rights to legistlate these issues. What happened to freedom of expression? What happened to individual rights?

"We hold these truths to be self evident: That all men are created equal." Ring a bell???

I don't think that when the founding fathers said this that they meant everybody but gays... or any other group for that matter.

OK, then. How about the individual right to spend your money as you wish without it being taken by the government. How about the freedom to be born and live your life without being killed first? How about the freedom to carry a gun to defend yourself? What about the individual right to smoke in a restaurant.

I'm with you on this one. I think Gays should have equal rights to straight people, but that can be achieved with civil union, Gay men can legally get married, but I don't know why they'd want a woman. I think EVERYONE is entitled to the rights that they find important, not just some rights when it's convienent to your opinion.

I disagree. I'm a registered republican, but i'm certainly not straight-ticket. There are a number of Democrats i'd vote for, and a number of issues that I am quite liberal on. But all in all, I think Republicans are the better choice usually.

First off: It's only marriage that we don't want them to have.
2nd, for HUNDREDS OF YEARS marriage has been between a MAN AND A WOMAN, and it's the definition in the dictionary. We should not change the definition. Plus, you can NOT run a stable household with kids if you are gay. And also, then you'd have to allow those who want to be married to 2 other people--say Someone wanted to marry twins. We'd have to give into that too. And plus, it is against my religion for such acts.
But that does NOT mean that I don't like gay people! (Just to let you all know)
I think EVERYONE is entitled to the rights that they find important, not just some rights when it's convienent to your opinion.
That was kind of the point I was making... maybe I didn't articulate myself properly.
How about the individual right to spend your money as you wish without it being taken by the government.
How is the government supposed to run without money? Air? I don't know where you were going with this one... do you think we shouldn't be taxed?
How about the freedom to be born and live your life without being killed first?
Honestly, if you are not a woman, I don't think you have any right to tell me what I can and cannot do with my body. However, I am not immune to the suggestion that abortion is murder. That is a hard one to call.
How about the freedom to carry a gun to defend yourself?
Against whom? Is there a rash of gun toting terrorists running around that the police can't take care of? I do not believe that you do not have the right to own a gun. I do believe in gun control...
What about the individual right to smoke in a restaurant.
That one is fuzzy, too. I won't even get into that one...

Note: I am always up for a good political debate, but if you are easily offended, it is not a good idea to argue with me... fair warning.

Regulating Gay Marriage is NOT doing what's convenient for you.

Bush's tax cuts should stay in place. People should not be taxed to much.

You CAN tell the person that it's wrong and push for change. And it IS murder. You're not even letting the child get the chance to live.

Yes, but what about the hunters? What about responsible people?
And WHAT ABOUT THE 2ND AMENDMENT? That GUARENTEES the right to bear arms.

I don't like going into restaurants that smoke, but then again...I won't even respond to this one, like our new Liberal friend.

Note: I am always up for a good political debate, but if you are easily offended, it is not a good idea to argue with me... fair warning.

Same goes for me.

Republican_Man you might hate me after I say this but im pro-choice. I don't like the fact that babys are getting killed. Although they are considered fetuses but you know what I mean. A woman shouldnt have to have a baby from a rapist.

On the subject of gays. I think they should have equal rights. BUT not more rights. If they say they want an extra holiday off of work cause they are gay. Then "HELL NO!"

Well, I don't hate you there--An example of another is this: Rudy Guliani is "pro-choice," which in my opinion is really "pro-murder of babies" and yet I want him to run for President in '08 against Hilary.

Now, I've already made may case with the gay marriage stuff.

Okay, on top of being a Liberal, I am also something of a constitutional expert...

You need to go read your 2nd Amendment again. It does not guarantee the right for regular citizens to bear arms. The wording says that an organized militia has the right to bear arms... as in National Guard, local police, etc.

This has been a source of much debate since the original framing of the constitution, and there is no way of knowing how it was meant to be interpreted.

Most people assume that it means that individuals have the right to own guns, but in reality, it says something far different. Just a little FYI, there.... but I agree that people have the right to defend themselves, don't get me wrong....

Oh don't worry--I know. We studied the constitution IN-DEPTH last year in school, but I know what it says, but do you remember what a MILITIA was? It was REGULAR citizens. And yes, interpretation is up for debate much, but it DOES give individuals the right to own a gun.

Whoa, you lost me...

What is this about voting? I assume you mean that we control the laws by controlling the representatives that legislate them... sorry I am trying to have like ten conversations at once on other forums...

I fixed that typo.
I meant to put "right to bear arms"
