Now, I say that we BEAT this record!
Let's come up with a date and relative time period for us all to try to get on. I'm shooting for 55 people online!

It will be hard to do. and everyone comes at different times and all of us are in different time zones. so it will be kinda hard. Btw u not the only one who wanted to do this.

You arent the first one to think this up! There's usually one of these every 2 months. 49 isn't the true number though. That was during the time that there was like 25 google spiders on the site all the time. The real number before the google spiders game was 33 I think .
Time zones make it hard to do this, as John already said, but hey, it's worth a try eh?

^Yeah, I think everyone here knows that. But it's worth a try; let's come up with a date and time.

Please, tell me why you felt the need to say anything, then? If you don't want to participate, don't. But don't crap on his idea. RM is a rather new user who wouldn't have noticed that this had been attempted previously.
And yes, agreeing with Oliver, I think we are all quite aware that we are not all from America, (BTW, even if we were, it'd still be rather difficult) Again, if you choose not to participate, then don't. But don't be so b*tchy.

Worth a try,but it really isn't likely. Your best bet would be in the afternoon during the summer. Failed the other times. I'll try once I know the date and time. No promises though.

I remember this from a while back and it didn't work because of the whole time zone thing and I forgot to get on at the right time but i'll try again. I'll probably be here a lot more often (haven't posted in over a month) since school just ended yesterday. So i'm in i guess.

Okay, these are my thoughts: if we try to do this, I suggest we make an effort.
Firstly, I think it's safe to say that the majority of the members here are from the Northern American continent and Europe. So, in order to break the previous record and get as many people as possible online at the same time we need to put these two continents in a good posting time (which is in the daytime).
If we put California (US) at 1300 hours (1pm), then it would be 1600 hours (4pm) in New York City (US). In the UK it would be 2100 hours (9pm) and in the rest of Europe it would be 2200 hours (10pm). As Australia has three time zones, the time would range from 0500 to 0700 hours (5am or 7am) depending on where you live. I believe this is the best arrangement weighing the pros and the cons.
As for a day, I suggest we attempt to break the record on a Sunday. Thats a day that no one has to work (mostly) and its most likely that everyone is home. I also recommend we attempt this within two weeks. This gives us enough time to plan ahead and perhaps try to get as many people in on this as possible.
So, this puts the record attempt on Sunday, June the 13th, 2004 at 2000 hours (8pm) GMT (or UTC). GMT is Greenwich Mean Time and UTC is Coordinated Universal Time.
This sets the time, now we need to focus on the amount of people. How do we get as many people to participate? We need to inform them! PM your friends about this record attempt, e-mail them, or perhaps through some other form of communication.
We need to be careful about this last one. We wouldnt want to overload some people with PMs or e-mails. Thats why I suggest that those of you, who want to be part of this record attempt, post your name here. Those of you, who dont want to be bothered, do the same. If someone is mentioned in the dont bother me list, please dont try to convince this person and accept this persons wishes. If someone is mentioned in the please remind for the record attempt list, you dont have to bother them either as they know what this is about.
Then, one or two days before the record attempt, someone (and I recommend Republican Man, RM as some of you call him, as he is the initiator of this record attempt) will PM everyone in the please remind for the record attempt list so they wont forget.
If someone has a better plan or would like to adjust something, please feel free to do so. Im just trying to make this work. If you think this is stupid or just a waist of time please dont post here and just ignore this thread; itll be over within two weeks.

'PLEASE REMIND FOR THE RECORD ATTEMPT' LIST
Yes, Ive been informed of this and would like to attempt to break the record. I dont want to be informed over and over, please remind me once so I wont forget when the time is ready.

Tsss, I still think you are a freak,
I almost always have Sundays off, and stay home, but I'll need a reminder, as I also usually log off and go watch the Red Sox game.

He said it was 8 PM GMT. So in England it would be 9 PM. Where I am, it will be 4 PM.

Yeah, I'm sorry, it's jus impossible to do good for evrybody at the same time. But if you've got a better plan, feel free to tell us.
I've also added (look at the next post) those of you of which I assume would like to join the attempt. If I've placed someone on the wrong list please change by quoting the last post and changing your name to the correct list...
I've also PMed RM to bring him up to date with his post.

Y'know what, here's what I'm gonna do. When we do this i'll just log onto STV at midnight when it changes from saturday to sunday and stay on all day. That'll be easier I'll still probably need a reminder, i forget easily but have a good memory.
