Tue Apr 27, 2004 6:48 am The Silver Ring Thing |
|
Quote: | What is called the Silver Ring Thing, a national movement, will be a mixture of talks, skits and music put together to show middle and high school students that not having sex before marriage is one of the best decisions they can make.
At the end of the event, the students will have the chance to pledge to staying chaste until their wedding night. As a symbol of that commitment, they will be given a silver ring inscribed with a biblical reference warning against sexual sin. |
Who believes in not having sex before getting married?

^^To not go into a long speech about it, I am Catholic, and the Catholic church beleives that intercourse is something sacred that should only occur between a man and a woman that have received the sacrement of holy matramony, and wish to bring forth a child.
....I know, its very strict

God and to think they are still around today they must hate alot of the people in the world... If I couldn't have sex till I was married I would go nuts.

It doesn't really make a difference to me, either way. Just have to be careful about STDs, but other than that, why the hell not? If you truly like the person, that is.

WEll I thik just as long as you are ready for it and ALL that goes with it, fine. I also don't really plan to get married so....
My feeling about the religion aspect on no sex before marriage is this: In biblical days, people were married by the time they were bareley teenagers so it was easy to wait.
Anyway... everyone should do what they feel is right, and what they are comfortable with.

I believe in no sex before marriage, but if you feel that your going to be with the person for life, or awhile, and it feels right, then go for it.

As a personal belief I don't believe in sex before marriage. Not something I'd impose on other people, but I'm saving myself for my soulmate. Because I want to give him the one thing that's incrediably special to me.
I know this is a bit of an outdated belief. But I still want my purity to go to one person. I feel that a person's virginity is sacred. And I want to share it wil my soulmate.

My thoughts exactly. I would only wish to share it with the right person. It's a religious belief of mine that it's not right, as well, but even if I weren't Christian, fundamentaly I believe that it should be saved until after marriage...

Well, those arguments are all very noble, kind and sweet but I wouldn't go that far and say that my body is sacred; or anyones body for that matter. Even a person's virginity isn't sacred to me.
I agree that, when having sex, people should be very carefull these days and not go do and it with everyone, but to save up for after your marriage due to religious reasons... I dunno, it sounds out-dated to me...

I think a person's body is the most sacred thing they will ever have. And that sex, or being intimiate with another person should be about love. Not just to have sex.

It's an individual descision. I wouldn't, but if others do, I could care less. So long as it stays behind closed doors.

I don't believe in it because of my religion, but I can honestly admit that I don't know if I'll be able to hold to that belief... on account of... you know...
